Mogrovejo - a medieval village

While driving in Spain there are so many little red-roofed villages that appear out of nowhere in the middle of the green hills and mountains.  Here are just a few that Cari managed to capture from the moving car.

We decided to visit one of the villages that is well-known for its 13th-century tower, the village of Mogrovejo.

The house below had beautiful flowers and a pair of well-worn albarcas (shepherd clogs) under the bench next to the front door.

The old guys in the photo below walked past us as we sat eating our Cantabrian cheese and drinking our wine.  The one on the far left lives in the house pictured above.  When they reached the front door the guy in the middle asked him, "Que tal tu mujer?"  He responded, "Mi mujer?" as if he didn't have one.  "Si, si tu mujer" repeated the first guy.
His response:  "Mi mujer....bien, bien.  Bien jodida, pero bueno..."  This is an anecdote for the Spanish-speaking readers of the blog!

The courtyard of the cafe-bar where we had our snack of cheese and wine - such beautiful flowers!

 Finally - un gato espan~ol!
